NEON RACERS (2023)

Using the same Assets I created from PONG I created a 2D "Tron" inspired game. During this project, I really enjoyed programming the controls for the players. The issue I kept having during this project was the neon trial from the players was not creating correctly as the players moved. The solution to this was actually simple! I was trying to clone the player each time it moved. The key was to create a sprite that I can just clone to follow the player. Gameplay can be viewed from the Videos tab.

When Night Comes V2

After some practice, I learned to use Unity Game Engine very well. I learned programming and I polished my first build. This added some creative flair. This is where the project takes its first step into what I envisioned. Gameplay can be viewed from the videos tab at the top of the page. Dated 2017

When Night Comes V3 (Final)

After becoming well-versed with Unity, I really wanted to shape my builds into something more playable with story beats. I started researching the Game Development Process and began creating the story and end goal for the player. I wanted to initially test many of the game mechanics, hence the third build was created. This then has been finalized and is awaiting Steam review. Gameplay can be viewed from the videos tab at the top of the page.

This project is complete and is coming soon to Steam! The Steam store page is linked at the bottom!

(Unreal Tech Demo)

I wanted to expand my knowledge of popular game development engines, so I began to explore other such engines in the industry. I started with Unreal Engine and researched as much as I could.  I created a tech demo with a sample scene. This allowed me to learn the basics such as blueprints and material mapping!

Footage from what I have built so far can be viewed from the videos tab at the top of the page. Dated 2022/2023

UX/Systems Reimagined

UX design is a critical aspect of video game development that involves creating rules, mechanics, and interactions that define the gameplay experience. Although I do not possess formal training in the arts, I have developed a series of conceptual illustrations with the purpose of enhancing the clarity and comprehensibility of my system design methodology.

In Destiny 2, the buff and debuff system is an excellent example of how system design can enhance player engagement and satisfaction. Buffs are temporary effects that increase your damage output, while debuffs are temporary effects that make enemies weaker and thus receive higher damage. Buffs can come in the form of weapon damage perks, certain subclass perks, armor mods like weapon surges, and certain game mechanics. Debuffs can be placed on enemies to make them weaker and thus receive higher damage. Like all things, nothing is perfect but can always be improved. Destiny's Buff and Debuff system is great but presents some flaws.  For Example, The UI for the game can only display four buffs/debuffs at a time to the player. When multiple items are buffed at a time it can be hard as a player to see what is happening. I used this idea to challenge myself and create my own system design for how a reimagined Buff/Debuff system could look for Destiny 2.

NEW Destiny Buff/Debuff System Concept

This is my concept for a reimagined Buff/Debuff System for Destiny 2. During this, I used my Design process to create and contextualize a working concept. This concept allows for more Buffs/Debuffs to be displayed on the screen at once. It also will allow for Debuff tracking on enemies.

UX/Systems Reimagined Part 2

Furthermore, I wanted to challenge myself once more and evolve another Destiny System. This is the Vault Management Screen. The Vault in Destiny 2 currently is a place for players to store currently collected weapons, armor, and inventory items. The current vault screen is very cluttered and hard to find key items for players. I redesigned this system to be easier for players to track and find weapons and armor quickly.
